Understanding these commonly observed behaviors helps us understand our children better. It helps us as parents to differentiate between what’s a natural urge or need for our child as opposed to difficult behavior. Once you have an understanding of why a child is exhibiting a particular behavior, and that he/she isn’t just not listening to you, it makes it easier to cope. Then you can give them other outlets and invitations to safely explore with a more appropriate activity.
